Summary: The text asks us, "Come and see" where Jesus lives or that s what Jesus told Peter and Andrew.

John 1:29-42 “John Shares, Where Jesus Lives”

• Home or the places we live seem to Take away stuff, It’s a Place we get breath again,

• Havens of rest is home, we even call Heaven Home don’t we

1. John shares with us the ministry of Jesus

• His ministry is to “Take Away” John declares Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” yes Jesus takes away sin but he takes away more more than sin

• Jesus Takes Away Hopelessness and gives hope, hope for lepers, blinded eyes, muteness, and even takes away death.

• Jesus Takes Away Tears of Despair and gives us tears of joy

• Jesus Takes away Fear and gives each courage to face the Tomorrows

• Jesus Takes Away the anguish of Israel waiting and waiting for messiah 31I myself did not know him; but I came baptizing with water for this reason, that he might be revealed to Israel.’

2. John shares what He Saw‘

• John said He Saw the Spirit, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it remained on him. Doves were resemblance of Beauty Song of Solomon 1:15 “How beautiful you are, my darling! Oh, how beautiful! Your eyes are [like] doves.”

• Doves are symbolic of the Holy Spirit , I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove

• John said I saw God Breath that day in the Jordan remember God Breath on Adam becomes a living soul

• Ezekiel says, He saw God give breath to death Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe into these slain, that they may live.' " 10So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet--a vast army.

• John said He saw, 34And I myself have seen and have testified that this is the Son of God.’*

3. John Shares the Identity of Jesus

• John Identifies Jesus as the Lamb 35 The next day John again was standing with two of his disciples, 36and as he watched Jesus walk by, he exclaimed, ‘Look, here is the Lamb of God!’

• The Perfect sacrifice for sin 8 know this you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.

4. John shares with us Where Jesus lives, well Jesus shares where he lives

• Jesus says to Peter and Andrew ‘What are you looking for?’ They said to him, ‘Rabbi’ ‘where are you staying?’ 39He said to them, ‘Come and see.’ They came and saw where he was staying, and they remained

• There’s an old saying, “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.”

Peter and Andrew were ready. Which raises the question: Are we ready? Are we willing to go where Jesus lives?

• Where does Jesus Live? Jesus lives where the children are because they’re special people

• Jesus Lives where the sinner is because He is the lamb of God that taketh away the sins of the world.

• Jesus Lives with the hopelessness He give breath to places of lifelessness remember the valley of dry bones (He breathed they came to life)

• Jesus lives with those who have no one to love them.

• Jesus lives in the community of faith where worship and study take place.

• Jesus lives in the written words of Scripture. The Word is alive

• Jesus lives in every seeker in every believer, He lives in every see-er John said I saw breath that day in the Jordan John saw the Son of God that day, Jesus lives in every minister that believes He takes away hopelessness, blindness, death, despair, fear, and anguish. One day

We are invited to “Come and See” ( recall these are the words Jesus said Andrew and Peter) where Jesus lives!
