Summary: Pentecost gave us New Energy to go and make disciples.

Me and Juanita were mulching around parsonage 25 bags worth of pure misery, after 15 bags Juanita said, “I have no more energy” we didn’t quite finish the front so I thought man we need to finish the job so I go get more, 10 bags more of misery. The Job is finished around the house next is the hillside. We all run out of energy don’t we? We get energy from Coal, Oil, Gas, solar energy, wind bind energy; Pentecost gives us a brand new energy source the Holy Spirit.

1. Thank God there is a new energy Source. It is Called “The Holy Spirit”

• New Energy was discovered on the Day of Pentecost

• The followers of Jesus were gathered in Jerusalem to celebrate a Jewish holiday, called Pentecost or “The Festival of Weeks.”

• It was a harvest festival, but also a time to give thanks for the gift of the law to Moses

• This law, which gave them inspiration and structure for their lives.

2. The New Energy Source came in like a mighty rushing Wind

• The New Energy source or The Holy Spirit entered a house full of Jesus-followers,

• It filled the apostles with new life, enabling them to communicate with each other

3. Let me tell you how it happened according to the Scriptures

• Acts tells us that when the day of Pentecost had come, the followers of Jesus “were all together in one place. And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting.

• Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability” (Acts 2:1-4).

• This New Energy came Like the “wind from God” that swept over the face of the waters on the first day of creation (Genesis 1:2).

• It Came Like the breath that Jesus breathed on his disciples when he said, “Receive the Holy Spirit” (John 20:22). Wind, breath, Spirit — they are all the same creative and life-giving gift from God.

• Presbyterian author Frederick Buechner. “When your spirit is unusually strong, the life in you unusually alive, you can breathe it into other lives, become literally in-spiring.”

• That’s what happened Pentecost God “breathed and continues to breathe”.

• God’s breath filled the apostles and inspired them, giving them the ability to go out and speak about God’s deeds of power to the Jews from every nation who were living in Jerusalem.

• The apostles were suddenly able to speak in a variety of languages, and the people “were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, ‘What does this mean?’ But others sneered and said, ‘They are filled with new wine’” (Acts 2:12-13).

4. Some people was sure this new Energy was a result of Wine

• Peter assured them that’s not true “Men of Judea and all who live in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and listen to what I say. Indeed, these are not drunk, as you suppose” (Acts 2:14-15).

• Peter was filled with New Life, New Energy, New courage . This was the same Peter who had denied Jesus three times, saying, “I do not know him,” “I am not [a follower of Jesus],” and “I do not know what you are talking about!” (Luke 22:57-60).

• They were drunk on God’s wind, God’s Energy, God’s Breath, God’s Spirit

5. We all Need Energy why not tap into the gift God gave on Pentecost

• This new energy will give you courage when to stand and when to sit. The Holy Spirit gave Peter the courage to STAND and say: 17" `In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.

• This new Energy Holy Spirit helps us fight exhaustion 8But as for me, I am filled with power, with the Spirit of the LORD, and with justice and might, Micah 3:8

• This Energy called The HOLY SPIRIT Motivates us Phil 3:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me

• This Holy Spirit give us words even to speak when needed 12for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say."

• This New Energy The Holy Spirit Convinces us, Convicts us, and Converts us to “Call on the name of The LORD and be saved.”
