Summary: The Greek want to see Jesus but Jesus want the Greeks and us to see Principle of life: “die so others can live” what really Matters, His Reason and the pull of the cross.

John 12:20-33 What Jesus wants us to see?

1. The Greeks want to see Jesus

• “Now among those who went up to worship at the festival were some Greeks.” They sought Philip out and eagerly beseeched him, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.”

• These Greeks may have recent converts to Judaism

• Perhaps they are curious about what he is preaching or teaching

• The disciples tell their Rabbi and the Rabbi says , ““The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified,”

1. The Greeks want to see Jesus, but it seems that Jesus want them to see His Purpose

• Jesus says, the hour has come the time is upon us

• When he went up to Jerusalem privately for the Feast of Booths, he knew, “My time has not yet come” (John 7:6).

• Jesus begins teaching publically “they were seeking to arrest him, but no one laid a hand on him.” Why was he spared? John explains: “Because his hour had not yet come” (John 7:30).

• Then again in John 8, during this same appearance in the holy city, “he taught in the temple; but no one arrested him.” Again John explains : “Because his hour had not yet come” (John 8:20).

• But here during Passover week Jesus says, “My hour has come” The crucifixion. Just imagine knowing your future which is a brutal one

2. Jesus want us to see the Principle of Life according to Christ. If we die others maybe saved

• 24I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. The kernel must perish as a kernel if there is to be a plant.

• Jesus must die so that the souls of humanity may be planted and produce offspring

3. I think Jesus wants us to see what really matters. It matters that we give ourselves to Jesus

• 25The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life

• Mt 16:24-25;24Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 25For whoever wants to save his lifeH will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it.

• This matters: if you are really interested on following me then your purpose is to deny self

• This matters if you really are Concerned about following Jesus take up the cross the emblem of suffering

• This matters if you are really determined to follow then your life is not yours but have thine way Lord have thy own way

• 26Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.

4. Jesus wants us to see His Reason

• 27"Now my heart is troubled, and what shall I say? `Father, save me from this hour'? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour.

• His Reason for doing what He did . Remember John 3:16.

• Christ’s reason is for our souls, for our death, for our hell, for our grave

5. Jesus wants us to see The Power( The Triumph, The Victory, the Pull of the Cross)

• 31Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out. 32But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself."

• Jesus had a attraction a pull a drawing “Look,” say the scribes and Pharisees in amazement, as they see the surging crowd, “the world has gone after him!” (John 12:19).

• “I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”. Once the power of his love gets hold of you, there’s no resisting. He just brings you along.

• At his birth, he attracted shepherds to a Bethlehem hillside, and wise men from afar.

• In the temple when he was 12 years old, the wise and the learned gathered round to hear his teaching.

• He called to his side fishermen who left their nets and tax collectors who abandoned their account books. Even the wise Pharisee, Nicodemus, came to him by night, to learn how to be “born from above.”

• He called to his side women of every description — everyone from the practical, no-nonsense Martha to her sister, Mary.

• Even the Roman governor, Pilate, felt the pull as he interrogated him. A pity it was that the skeptical Pilate did not give in, then and there, and cease his resistance!
