Summary: From whence cometh these prophets whose prophecies fail?

From whence cometh these prophets whose prophecies fail?

Jeremiah 23:19 Behold, a whirlwind of the LORD is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked.

20 The anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly.

21 I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.

22 But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.

23 Am I a God at hand, saith the LORD, and not a God afar off? KJV

Deuteronomy 18:21 And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken?

22 When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him. KJV

The true test of a prophet from God. If it does not come to pass, it is not of God. Every prophesy must come to pass, not 50-99%. In the OT, speaking one thing in the name of the Lord that did not come to pass caused an immediate vacancy among the prophets. God did not play the prophecy lotto or grade on a curve.

Ought not one failure today at least cost the person their TV show? Many "professed" prophets have missed at least one prophecy, yet people still hail them as prophets.

If only people would actually read the Word, in context, a lot of support checks would no longer be mailed. They might actually be sent to places where they are needed for something other than lavish living on the part of the "prophet" and his/her staff.

Dreams in the OT also were given specific interpretations by Joseph, Daniel, Peter and Paul. The only hidden dream I can think of was the one Daniel was told was for the last days yet it is very detailed. Revelation is very picturesque and even symbolic, but not vague.

Vague feelings and cloudy visions by prophets are not seen in Scripture. Most prophetic utterances are very clear and pointed. Ezekiel did role playing and yet it was interpreted precisely. If I have missed a vague or cloudy one, please let me know.

That kind of stuff is more for mediums and charlatans or brought by nocturnal indigestion, not prophetic utterances. Thus saith the Lord prophecies better come from the Lord!

Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. KJV

Don't count on miracles as proof as seen by the Matthew passage and this one.

2 Thessalonians 2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. KJV

Don't be fooled! Many of our modern "prophets" are not from the Lord.
