“Exodus 12: 1-12 When I See the Blood”

• It was the blood that forced Pharaoh to let the Hebrew go Exodus took place when the LORD decided to pass over the land and “strike down every firstborn in the land of Egypt, both human beings and animals” (Exodus 12:12). This was the judgment of God on the people and the gods of Egypt, because they had oppressed the people of Israel.

• God gave instructions smear some blood on the doorposts and lintels of their houses. “The blood shall be a sign for you,” said God to the people, through their leaders Moses and Aaron; “when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague shall destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt” (v. 13).

• Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron in the night because of the bloodshed. “Rise up, go away from my people, both you and the Israelites,” Pharaoh said to them. “Take your flocks and your herds, as you said, and be gone” ( 31-32).

1. Importance of the Blood

• loss of blood leads to loss of vitality and that a draining away of the blood leads to death.

• When . blood is shed, life is terminated

• Leviticus 17: 11For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one's life.

• The writer John said, 53Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.

2. When God sees the blood applied God recognizes us as a purchased child.

• Acts 20:28Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers.A Be shepherds of the church of God,B which he bought with his own blood. 29

• 13 Christ bought us with His blood and made us free from the Law. In that way, the Law could not punish us.

3. Jesus is near when the blood is applied God is near in the midst of issues

• Galatians tell us as a result of blood 13But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.

• Jesus doesn’t want us to be far away so through the blood we are near

• We never want our children far away neither does God

4. It is the blood of the Lamb applied that gives us Peace

• Colossian 1: 19For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

• When Adam and Eve sinned, not only was the harmony between God and man destroyed, but also disorder came into creation (Ro 8:19-22). So when Christ died on the cross, he made peace possible between God and man

• The blood applied gives peace in the midst of storm such as disease, the storms of frustrations, the storms of life’s issues

5. When God sees the blood that is applied it is that blood,that sets one apart

• 11The high priest carries the blood of animals into the Most Holy Place as a sin offering, but the bodies are burned outside the camp. 12And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate to make the people holy through his own blood. His blood sets us apart

• We do good work, we do right things, we do God things, we are different than the people of the world

6. When God sees the blood applied he will help us overcome the evil one

• Rev 12: 11 9The great dragon was hurled down--that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him. 10Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: "Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. 11They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb

7. When God sees the blood there is forgiveness 27Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you. 28This is my blood of theB covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
