About Allan
  • Education: My primary theological education took place at the Reformed Theological College in Geelong Australia. It was a five year full time Bachelor of Divinity. I also completed a Master of Arts in Theology through the Australian College of Theology. I also have a Graduate Certificate in Professional Management.
  • Experience: I have been in full time ministry for 30 years. Initially I served in the Christian Reformed Churches of Australia. In 2007 I planted a church in Brisbane which, after a few years, became part of the Queensland Baptist movement. I have been in mu current church since December 2021.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: Thanks for being willing to have a look. It is humbling to know that sermons which God has graciously allowed me to write are being used all over the world. If you do end up preaching them please pray that the Spirit will use the sermons to transform and convict those to whom you speak.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: Many of them do. When I preach I don’t just preach at the congregation but I also preach to myself. Having said that the sermon series which I did on the 12 disciples had a large impact on my personal thoughts about the purposes of the church and my place in it.
  • Family: I have been married for 33 years and I have three daughters who are 32, 31 and 27. I also have 3 sons-in-law and three grand-daughters. My wife has been a constant support to my ministry and I am so thankful to the Lord for providing her in my life.
  • What my parents think of my sermons: They really enjoy them.
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: She believes I am the best preacher she has ever heard.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Keep it simple and focus on the Word.
  • Books that have had an impact: I read all the time and there are many books which have had an impact. Indeed I have found that you can be impacted from the most unlikely sources.
  • Hobbies: I am working on a HO scale model railway based on a small suburban branch-line (which no no longer exists) in Sydney.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: What I always say; "Jesus is the only way to eternal life".
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: I often use the phrase "brothers and sisters" which I am addressing the congregation. However, one time, it came out as "brothers and sinners".
  • What I want on my tombstone: He let Jesus make the difference

  • The Most Important Exam

    Contributed on May 28, 2021

Paul calls us to examine ourselves. In this exam we don’t compare ourselves to others, we actively seek to bring about real changes in our lives and we place our eternal destiny into the hands of Jesus.

Message 2 Corinthians 13:5 “The Most Important Exam” I love being in ministry – and I love being the minister of NEC. Only one week ago Corianna and I returned from a four week absolutely amazing holiday. We really enjoyed our time. We are also thankful to be back home and continue our ministry more

  • The True Vine

    Contributed on Apr 16, 2021

Jesus the True Vine is the Only source of spiritual life. For us to know if we are a true disciple or a fake disciple we need recognise the difference between the Father bringing us through a difficult pruning process, or the Father cutting us off.

Message John 15:1 I Am The True Vine There are seven “I am” passages of Jesus … the last of which is found in John 15:1-6 (read) I suspect there are plenty of us who remember the “I am the vine; you are the branches” part. I wonder how many also remembered the “I am the vine, and my Father is more

  • The Way The Truth And The Life

    Contributed on Apr 9, 2021

Jesus is the Way who gives direction. Jesus is the Truth who brings genuine knowledge to our circumstances. Jesus is the Life who has done all that is necessary. Do not let your hearts be troubled.

Message John 14:6 I Am The Way The Truth and The Life Today the focus of our message is on Jesus who says, “I am the Way and the Truth and the Life.” Let’s read this “I am” statement in it’s context. Read John 14:1-6 Jesus is specifically speaking about Himself as the One who can bring us from more

  • The Resurrection And The Life

    Contributed on Apr 2, 2021

Knowing Jesus as the Resurrection and the Life means having the hope and security that Jesus has always been there for us to give us a comprehensive answer for our pain, confusion, grief and disappointment. Jesus is there even when it doesn’t feel like it.

Message John 11:25 I Am The Resurrection and the Life In John 11 we read about a man called Lazarus who is dying – so Martha and Mary send a message to Jesus. By this time in His ministry Jesus has given sight to the blind, healed lepers, and removed demons from the possessed. He has even raised more

  • The Good Shepherd

    Contributed on Apr 2, 2021

Knowing Jesus as the Good Shepherd gives us confidence to hear His voice because; He has laid down his life; He is committed; He knows us; and He is expanding the flock. Listen to Him.

Message John 10:11 I Am The Good Shepherd I wonder if there were days when the shepherds in first century Judea had times when they thought … “I am sick and tired of looking after these sheep.” Sheep are not the easiest animals to look after – especially for a shepherd in Jesus day. Sheep easily more

Let me tell you about Louis Slotin, one of the early scientists who were working with the effects of radioactive uranium. On May 21, 1946, he was experimenting to find how long it would take for uranium to be triggered into an unstoppable reaction. He was doing that by pushing two hemispheres more

A fencing contractor was talking with a rich property owner about his chances of going to heaven. The rich man believed that God would be pleased with his efforts. He said, “I’ve lived a good life and been hardworking and giving to worthy causes. Sure, I hide some of my income so it doesn’t more

After the Battle of the Bulge during World War II, one German officer described the capture of an American unit early in the fighting. Among the booty was a box that contained a cake. What was remarkable about the cake is that it had been sent to an American soldier from Boston and it was still more
