About Chris
  • Education: I graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1997 with a Master of Theology (4 year Degree), in Pastoral Ministry.
  • Experience: I have served in churches in Texas, Alabama, Virginia, Iowa, and now I am planting a church in Tennessee. Served on staff with Dr. Tony Evans ministry, served as a youth pastor, college pastor, and worship leader at a multi-site church.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: Andy Stanley’s Imagine series, Tony Evans, Beth moore
  • One of my favorite illustrations: A woman and her baby lived in a trailer park on the outskirts of Phoenix, Arizona. Beyond the trailer park was nothing but miles and miles of desert. The woman was outside with her sleeping toddler when the phone rang inside the trailer, and the mother decided to go in an answer it. Though only gone for a few minutes, the Mother returned outside only to find in her horror the baby missing from the playpen. She searched frantically in all directions, but her two-year old son was no where to be found. An extensive search by the authorities followed, looking for three days in all directions; searching the trailer park all the way to the desert beyond. Three days after the baby was pronounced missing, a worker for the search and rescue squad found the baby five miles away in the middle of the desert. The baby was alive and for the slight case of sunburn, the baby survived temperatures of 100 degrees in the day and 50 degrees at night, even though the baby was only wearing a diaper. Many people questioned how the baby got so far away from home; a total of 5 miles. The answer? One baby step at a time. Sin is the same way. It is very subtle. Yet over time, when you look back, you are no where to be found; you are lost away from home.
  • Family: I met my wife Kim while touring with a Christian musical group. We were married in 1993. We have two children. Walt and Jed.
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: She likes them, but honestly she preaches better than me!
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Always be prepared.
  • Books that have had an impact: Failing Forward, 7 Practices of Highly Effective Ministry,
  • Hobbies: My wife and I love playing and singing at our piano. I find great delight in God’s creation—canoeing, and fishing. I enjoy reading a variety of books and listening to different kinds of music. The highlight of my day is when I get home and chase my sons through the house!
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: I told you I needed time off! I needed a break!!
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: Preaching while my zipper was down. XYZ!
  • What I want on my tombstone: Don’t want one.
