About Randall
  • Education: B.A. Tennessee Wesleyan College, Athens, TN - MAAOM Tusculum College, Greeneville, TN - MAT, Lee University, Cleveland, TN - Ed.S., Tennessee Tech - Currently working on Ed.D., Liberty University, Lynchburg, VA.
  • Experience: McMahan Calvary Baptist Church, 1999 to present
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: use what you will, give all the glory to God, not to Randall Bates
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: One More Night With the Frogs
  • Family: Married to Melissa (who by the way is the most beautiful woman in the world). 4 children - Allysyn, 7 - Riley, 6 - Connor, 3 - Ashtyn - 2.
  • What my parents think of my sermons: My mother is too kind, and my father always listens intently. I was truly humbled the first time I saw my mother taking notes while I was preaching.
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: probably that they are too long.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Don’t do it unless you have to. It is a calling, not a choice of profession.
  • Books that have had an impact: The Spiritual Man, Watchman Nee - It’s Not About Me, Max Lucado - Releasing the Revival Flood, Greg Frizzel
  • Hobbies: Golf, Hunting, Reloading, Shooting
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: Repent, repent, repent
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: New flowers on the stage - kicked them completely off the stage
  • What I want on my tombstone: Seeing His face now, he truly understands grace
