FLY TO THE LIGHT

Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, Kentucky has this huge sanctuary that seats thousands upon thousands. Sometimes birds get in there. The facilities department has the job of trying to figure out how to get these birds out. The last thing you want Sunday morning is a bird dropping bombs on the people below. Yet, shooting the birds may not be the best approach and poisoning them is rather inhumane. The goal is not to destroy but to save. To save the birds they turn off all the lights, make it is dark as possible. Then at one of the lower exists they open the door and outside they turn on all the lights, make it as bright as they can. The bird instinctively flies to the light and escapes. We look around and things seem to be getting darker. This is what God does. The longer we as a people do not come to Jesus the darker and darker things become. In that darkness the brighter Jesus will shine and the stronger our instinct to come to him will be. Do things look dark? Are things getting darker in your life? The darker things get the closer we need to be to him who said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
