Voltaire was one of the leading figures of the French Enlightenment of the 1700’s. He has an exceptional talent for writing, and to this day, he is known as one of the world’s greatest philosophers. He had money, intelligence, and political influence, which never had been seen by men before his time. With those qualities he tried to destroy the Christian faith. Yet all of that changed on his deathbed. He was heard to have said, "I have been abandoned by God and man. I will give you half of my estate, if you will give me but six months more life." His greatness seemed not so great, but now insufficient.
