Cookies versus brownies

Alisa’s Childers gave the following example in her book, “Live Your Truth and Other Lies”. What is the best dessert? Pie? Ice cream? Brownies? Cookies? Cake? If you choose cake with ice cream, you would be correct. Well, actually, it just means that you’re probably a really cool person and we could be food buddies. But there’s actually no “best dessert.” There are only opinions of what each person thinks is the best dessert. That’s because “best dessert” doesn’t fall into the category of objective truth. The conclusion that “cake with ice cream is the best” is simply my opinion. It’s my preference. It doesn’t depend on anything outside of my own head it’s based on me, the subject. Sounds like a perfect opportunity to say, “This is my truth.” But I would just be stating that what I believe to be true about the best dessert. It’s not even really my truth because it isnt true for everyone in all times and places that I, Alysa Childers, think cake and ice cream is the best dessert. This is why subjective truth isn’t really a thing.
